Are you a professional cook or an avid foodie?
Dec 3rd, 2009, 1:27am

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to gauge where people were in their skill levels. I am a chef and I love food, cooking, talking about cooking, teaching cooking, etc. I wanted to find out where other members were, for a couple of reasons. 1) I don't want to talk over peoples heads when it comes down to cooking, and 2) I don't want to tell people stuff they already know!

This is a great site and look forward to getting to know you guys!

Definately not a professional cook!  I really love to cook and try new things when I have time.  Mostly try new things in the summer as I love to grill.  I have a sweet pork burrito recipe I made my version from trying to duplicate a local restaurant.  I have people request it!   Roll Eyes  Yummy, might have to make it this weekend.  Got more snow today!  Winter has finally arrived.  Blah!    So thanks for the site, seems cool so far.

What, is there some special cant among professional chefs that others cannot comprehend?

Go ahead and write, I don't think you have to worry about talking over people's heads when it comes to cooking.

I think very few people are professional. Most people are able to cook or at least can make decent meal for their family. I think some mama who has not gone through any professional training can cook a lot better than many so call chef. I always welcome people who are willing to share.
