I could pretty much eat any kind of asian food all day everyday for the rest of my life and not get sick of it.

I don't have one particular favorite, but I love thai, viet, japanese, korean, I eat chinese occasionally, but I would much rather have any of the ones I listed before.

I always order thai green curries, any kind of sashimi, I love eel, octopus, squid.

LOVE kim chee, and korean bbq.

What are the differences between Hakka and Nyonya cuisines?

Is it their similarities or differences that make it hard to choose?

It is not about similarities or differences, it's about flavor.

So annaccy says: "Difficult to choose between Hakka food and Nyonya food."

I ask: "What are the differences between Hakka and Nyonya cuisines?"

Annaccy responds "It is not about similarities or differences, it's about flavor."

What does this mean?  Of course it's about flavor, we're not talking about two different brands of generic corn flakes that are difficult to choose between.

Maybe it's me, I should be more specific:  What are the similarities or differences between the flavors of these distinct cuisines that make it difficult to choose one instead of the other?

Hakka food is more on Chinese, while the Nyonya food is more on Malay food. Basically, Hakka food is more salty, while nyonya food is more creamy and spicy. The main ingredients for Nyonya food is santan, I love Nyonya kuih, but if got to choose between two, I prefer Hakka food as it is healthier.

Why thank you - that's the kind of info I was seeking.

What's santan?  Dried coconut?  Surprisingly (to me at least), in my quick search of top 20 sites concerning "santan" it is never described as a food substance.

One site concerned a business named "Santan" which produces desiccated coconut products.

It has got to be curry for me. I particularly like Jalfrezi or Bhuna, both are quite hot but the flavour and smell are fantastic!

Welcome aboard Ruthmoore.

I guess the good news is that only "most" of the Asian recipes you enjoy are "the healthy ones".

Myself, i tend to enjoy the unhealthy foods too.
