I use it all the time

I'm wondering is any of you, like me, have a kitchen utensil or appliance that has turned out to be far more useful in your cooking than you ever expected.

For me, it is a pair of those over-sized chop-sticks joined by a thread/cord at the back end.

I don't do any Chinese cooking really, this came with a wok that sadly I do not use enough.

But boy oh boy, I use those big chop sticks as tongs to turn a chop, as a pasta fork when distributing a nice carbonara sauce, to stir,  about the best to pluck out a bay leaf from a soup, break up frozen veggies - they are adaptable, just plain useful.

Who'da thunk it?

Was it a revelation to you how useful a cleaver is?  Did it turn out you were just using the wrong size knife and the 8" is the best tool you ever bought?  Do you thank the stars every day you got that pastry blender?
