Are Copper vessels......?

Hello all,
Someone just gave me an old antique copper coffee pot, the kind you see on western movies around the camp fire, etc.. But it is copper, with rough moulded brass handle and point on top of lid. Is a copper pot like this ok to use to make coffee or tea or what have you? Just curious if copper is safe to cook in.
Thanks,

Sing along with us and you'll have your answer:

All I want is a proper cup o coffee,
Brewed in a proper copper coffee pot.
I may be off my dot, but I want a cup o coffee from a proper coffee pot.
Iron coffee pots and tin coffee pots - they are no use to me.
If I cant have a proper cup 'o coffee from a proper copper coffee pot Ill have a cup a tea
